Panathura Barnard, 1925: 143 View in CoL .— Poore, 2001: 127 –128.
Remarks: Until now the genus has been known from only one species, all others assigned to it now in Expanathura . The type species is confined to the Indian Ocean ( South Africa, Amsterdam and St Paul Is) and was described and illustrated by Barnard (1920) and Kensley (1976: 280–282, fig. 6; 1978b: 54, figs 23E–G; 1982b: 164, figs 43, 44) and Wägele (1981: 118–121, figs 56–58). Three new species are described from shallow depths in temperate and tropical Australia, and one from continental slope depths in southeastern Australia.
