Distribution: SE Iran through Pakistan to Nepal and N and C India. Perhaps adjacent Afghanistan. Introduced to Andaman Isls and vicinity of Perth in Western Australia.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Prasadsciurus ( Moore and Tate, 1965:71) . Reviewed by Agrawal and Chakraborty (1979), and Corbet and Hill (1992).
