Diagnosis. Males and females of this species are distinguished from other species of Hobochaetodus by the pronotum with the posterior margin sinuous; the elytral shape elongated; elytral disc nearly flat; and lateral, elytral, discal carinae continuous not interrupted ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 – 8. 7 ). Females are distinguished from males by the mesotibial spurs subequal in length.
Distribution. Peru. 2 specimens examined from UNSM and VMDC.
PERU (2): Cuzco: Esperanza (1); Distrito Kosñipata (6 km Trocha Union) (1).
Temporal data. January (1), November (1).
Natural history. The two known specimens of H. flaco were collected in pitfall traps baited with either human dung or rotting chicken. Label data indicate that the specimens were found in elfin forest between 2,700–2,900 m in elevation.
