Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. parenthesis ( Weise, 1923) in structures of the male genitalia, but can be distinguished from the later by parameres about 3/4 as long as penis guide ( Fig. 2n View FIGURE 2 ). In S. parenthesis , parameres are slightly shorter than penis guide ( Fig. 23g View FIGURE 23 ).
Description. TL: 1.79–2.74 mm, TW: 1.28–2.07 mm, TH: 0.75–1.27 mm.
Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence (Figs 25a–c). Head yellowish brown with interocular distance distinctly greater than eye width in frontal view. Pronotum and scutellar shield yellow. Elytra yellowish brown with five black spots. Sometimes the basal and apical spots are enlarged, or even the entire elytra are black, except for the yellowish brown apical margins. Ventral surfaces yellowish brown to black. Legs yellow. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, slightly recurved toward the base of ventrite ( Fig. 2k View FIGURE 2 ).
Male genitalia: Penis stout, penis capsule with stout outer arm and long inner one, apex of penis distinctly expanded with membranous appendage ( Figs 2m –l View FIGURE 2 ). Penis guide with prominent keel at base in lateral view, then tapering towards pointed apex; parameres conspicuously inflated, about 2/3 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide approximately parallel sided for basal 1/ 3 in ventral view, then gradually narrowing to apex ( Figs 2n–o View FIGURE 2 ).
Female genitalia: Coxites elongate, triangular; styli well developed with terminal setae; spermatheca distinctly curved, with basal ramus and elongate nodulus.

Distribution. China (Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hongkong, Taiwan); Japan.
Remarks. This species varies in elytral patterns. The specimens from Taiwan have yellow pronotum, sometimes with a black spot at base, yellow scutellar shield, and yellow elytra with five black spots. Some specimens from Hubei, Guangxi and Guizhou, elytra are yellow with characteristic black pattern as show in Figure 25d.
This species closely resembles Propipus subopacus Weise, 1901 ( Bielawski, 1961; Yu et al., 1993) from Sumatra, the type species of the monotypic genus Propipus Weise, 1901, and can hardly be distinguished from the latter. However, since we were not able to examine the type series of Propipus subopacus deposited in Senckenberg German Entomological Institute in Berlin, the relationship between Propipus and Sasajiscymnus remains unknown.
