( Figs 18 View FIGURE 18 , 68)
Chinese name: 圆Ṅḧ瓢•
Pseudoscymnus orbiculatus Yang, 1971: 90 (type locality: Anma Mountains, Taichung, Taiwan, China).— Sasaji 1988: 38; Yu 1995 a: 129; Pang et al. 2004: 88; Kovář 2007: 582.
Sasajiscymnus orbiculatus: Yu 2011: 127 — Iqbal et al. 2020: 386.
Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. ocellatus ( Yu, 2000) , but can be distinguished from the later by the shorter body, the penis guide approximately parallel sided for basal 1/ 3 in ventral view, and the eye-spotted marks on the elytra connecting with the lateral and apical margins ( Figs 18a–b, 18h View FIGURE 18 ). In S. ocellatus , body is more elongate, penis guide is widest at base in ventral view, and the eye-spotted marks on the elytra not touching the lateral and apical margins ( Figs 19a–b, 19g View FIGURE 19 ).
Description. TL: 2.25–2.51 mm, TW: 1.53–1.82 mm, TH: 0.95–1.07 mm.
Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence ( Figs 18a–c View FIGURE 18 ). Head yellowish brown with interocular distance distinctly greater than eye width in frontal view. Pronotum yellowish brown with a black spot. Scutellar shield black. Elytra black with two eye-spotted markings connecting with the lateral and apical margins. Ventral surfaces yellowish brown to black. Legs yellowish brown. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, not recurved toward the base of ventrite (Fig. 18d).
Male genitalia: Penis stout, penis capsule with stout outer arm and long inner one, apex of penis constricted with membranous appendage ( Figs 18e–f View FIGURE 18 ). Penis guide with prominent keel at base in lateral view, then tapering towards pointed apex; parameres about 1/2 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide approximately parallel sided for basal 1/ 3 in ventral view, then gradually narrowing to apex ( Figs 18g –h View FIGURE 18 ).
Female genitalia: Coxites elongate, triangular; styli well developed with terminal setae; spermatheca distinctly curved, with basal ramus and elongate nodulus.
Material examined. Holotype: China: Taiwan: ♂, Anma Mountains , Taichung City, 2200 m, 21.VII.1971, Yang CT leg ( NCHU) . Paratypes: China: Taiwan: 2♂ 2♀, Same data as holotype ( NCHU) .
