Chinese name: ḎṄḧ瓢•
Pseudoscymnus ocellatus Yu et al., 2000: 184 View Cited Treatment (type locality: Qiaoqi, Baoxing, Sichuan, China).— Pang et al. 2004: 88; Kovář 2007: 582; Ren et al. 2009: 64.
Sasajiscymnus ocellatus: Iqbal et al. 2020: 386 .
Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. orbiculatus ( Yang, 1971) , but can be distinguished from the later by the more elongate body, the penis guide widest at base in ventral view, and the eye-spotted markings on the elytra not connecting with the lateral and apical margins ( Figs 19a–b, 19g View FIGURE 19 ). In S. orbiculatus , body is shorter, penis guide is approximately parallel sided for basal 1/ 3 in ventral view, and the eye-spotted markings on the elytra connecting with lateral and apical margins ( Figs 18a–b, 18h View FIGURE 18 ).
Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence ( Figs 19a–c View FIGURE 19 ). Head black to brown, with interocular distance distinctly greater than eye width in frontal view. Pronotum yellowish brown with a black mark. Scutellar shield black. Elytron black with two yellow marks: the anterior one O-shaped, situated in the middle part, not touching elytral margin or suture; the other one located at the apex of elytron. Ventral surfaces yellowish brown to black. Legs yellowish brown. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, slightly recurved toward the base of ventrite ( Fig. 19d View FIGURE 19 ).
Male genitalia: Penis stout, penis capsule with stout outer arm and long inner one, apex of penis constricted with membranous appendage ( Fig. 19e View FIGURE 19 ). Penis guide with prominent keel at base in lateral view, then tapering towards pointed apex; parameres about 1/2 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide widest at base in ventral view, then gradually narrowing to apex ( Figs 19f–g View FIGURE 19 ).
Female genitalia: Coxites elongate, triangular; styli well developed with terminal setae; spermatheca distinctly curved, with basal ramus and elongate nodulus.
