Pseudoscymnus ohtai Yang & Wu, 1972: 121 (type locality: Chutung, Xinzhu, Taiwan, China).— Sasaji 1988: 38; Pang et al. 2004: 88; Kovář 2007: 582.

Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. hosonaga Kitano, 2012 , but can be distinguished from the later by its pronotum yellowish brown with a large black spot at base ( Fig. 9a View FIGURE 9 ). In S. hosonaga , pronotum is entirely black ( Kitano 2012).
Description. TL: 2.7–3.0 mm, TW: 2.0– 2.2 mm, TH: 0.86–1.17 mm.
Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence ( Figs 9a–d View FIGURE 9 ). Head yellowish brown with interocular distance distinctly greater than eye width in frontal view. Pronotum yellowish brown with a large black spot at base. Scutellar shield dark brown. Elytra black with yellow apices. Ventral surfaces yellowish brown to black. Legs yellowish brown. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, recurved toward the base of ventrite ( Fig. 9e View FIGURE 9 ).
Male genitalia: Penis long and slender, penis capsule with short outer arm and long inner one, apex of penis pointed ( Fig. 9f View FIGURE 9 ). Penis guide triangular in lateral view with pointed apex; parameres about 1/2 as long as penis guide, with sparsely setae at apex; penis guide widest at base in ventral view, tapering towards pointed apex ( Fig. 9g View FIGURE 9 ).
Female genitalia: Coxites distinctly elongate, triangular; styli strongly reduced and hardly visible; spermatheca distinctly curved, with basal ramus and nodulus.
Material examined. Holotype: China: Taiwan: ♂, Chutung, Xinzhu County , 3.VI.1972, Yang CT leg ( NCHU) . Paratypes: China: Taiwan: 2♂ 2♀, Neiwan, Xinzhu County , 3. VI .1972, Yang CT leg ( NCHU) .
