(Figs 61, 77)
Chinese name: Ħ氏ḧ瓢•
Clitostethus lewisi Kamiya, 1961: 279 (type locality: Kompira Mountains , Nagasaki, Kyushu, Japan).
Pseudoscymnus lewisi: Kamiya 1966: 79 .— Sasaji 1971: 110; Hoàng 1982: 125; Pang et al. 2004: 87; Kovář 2007: 582.
Clitostethus nakanei: Araki 1964: 39 . Synonymized by Sasaji 1971: 110.
Sasajiscymnus lewisi: Iqbal et al. 2020: 385 .
Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. applanatus sp. nov., but can be distinguished from the later by its parameres about 1/3 as long as penis guide, and penis guide approximately parallel sided for basal 2/ 3 in ventral view (Figs 61f–g). In S. applanatus , parameres are about 1/4 as long as penis guide. Penis guide is approximately parallel sided for basal 1/ 3 in ventral view, then slightly narrowing to blunt apex ( Figs 60f–g View FIGURE 60 ).
Description. TL: 1.51–1.78 mm, TW: 1.06–1.29 mm, TH: 0.58–0.72 mm.
Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence (Figs 61a–c). Body uniformly black, except antennae, maxillary palpi, tibiae and tarsi yellowish brown. Interocular distance slightly greater than eye width in frontal view. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, not recurved toward the base of ventrite (Fig. 61d).
Male genitalia: Penis slender, penis capsule with long inner arm but without outer one, apex of penis pointed (Fig. 61e). Penis guide long and slender in lateral view, widest at base, gradually narrowing to pointed apex; parameres about 1/3 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide approximately parallel sided for basal 2/ 3 in ventral view, then tapering towards blunt apex (Figs 61f–g).
Female genitalia: Coxites shortened; styli absent; spermatheca worm-like, with basal ramus and nodulus.
Material examined. China: Sichuan: 1♀, Mamize Nature Reserve , 2600 m, 19–20.IX.2007, Wang XM leg ; 4♂ 4♀, Heizhugou National Nature Reserve , 1900 m, 22–23.IX.2007, Wang XM leg ; 1♀, Liziping National Nature Reserve , 2000 m, 26–27.IX.2007, Wang XM leg. Yunnan: 1♂ 1♀, Xujiaba, Ailaoshan National Nature Reserve , 1– 3.X.2006, Wang XM leg ; 3♂, Xujiaba, Ailaoshan National Nature Reserve , 2524 m, 17.VIII.2013, Chen XS leg.
Distribution. China (Sichuan, Yunnan); Japan; Vietnam.
Remarks. This species was recorded in Fujian, Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi and Taiwan by Yu (2011). However, it was described as “yellowish brown head in male and black head in female”, which is a unique characteristic of S. kuriharai . This characteristic is never reported in S. lewisi and not conforms our examined specimens. According to his description, these records are probably the misidentification of S. kuriharai . Thus, it is still questionable for the existence of this species in the above five provinces, and we tentatively exclude these provinces in the distribution range.
