Sasajiscymnus amplus species group

The Sasajiscymnus amplus species group is characterized by the large body size, slender and strongly curved penis with inconspicuous outer arm, elongate penis guide which is arcuate in lateral view and extremely short and applanate parameres.

3 species of amplus group are recorded from China, including 2 new species.

1. Elytra black with yellowish brown apices; penis tapering towards pointed apex.................................... 2

- Elytra entirely reddish brown (Figs 46a–c); apex of penis twisted and forming a knot (Fig. 46f).................................................................................... Sasajiscymnus intricatus Tong & Wang sp. nov.

2. Penis guide widest at base in ventral view, tapering towards blunt apex ( Fig. 47g ) Sasajiscymnus amplus ( Yang & Wu, 1972)

- Penis guide approximately parallel sided for basal 1/ 2 in ventral view, then gradually narrowing to blunt apex ( Fig. 48g )............................................................ Sasajiscymnus pseudoamplus Tong & Wang sp. nov.
