EOO: 26,627.151 km 2. AOO: 60.000 km 2. IUCN Assessment: Near Threatened

Hypenia salzmannii View in CoL is well distributed throughout northeastern Brazil. It occurs in areas of the Atlantic Forest and Caatinga in all states of the region, except Maranhão, and also occurs in the Southeast Region in the state of Minas Gerais ( BFG 2015). In RN, populations were found mostly in savanna near the coast and in the far west of the state along highways and semideciduous forest. The populations near the coast are strongly affected by real estate speculation because people want to live near beaches. Only one population was recorded in a conservation unit, on the eastern coast of the state. Despite H. salzmannii View in CoL having an AOO that suggests it is endangered, it was assessed as NT because of its wide distribution in RN ( IUCN 2001).
