Type host. Black-necked stilt, Himantopus mexicanus (Müller)  ( Charadriiformes  : Recurvirostridae  ). Type locality. Galveston, Galveston County, Texas, USA.

Previously proposed synonym. Neoallopyge americanensis Dronen & Blend, 2005  . Remarks. Orignally described as Neoallopyge americanensis Dronen & Blend, 2005  . No oral or ventral sucker present—Dronen & Blend (2005).
