Type host. Solitary sandpiper, Tringa solitaria Wilson ( Charadriiformes : Scolopacidae ). Type locality. Nittany Mountain, Center County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Remarks. Although originally described as Cyclocoelum nittanyense Zeliff, 1946 , this species was considered to be a synonym of Cyclocoelum brasilianum Stossich, 1902 (= Selfcoelum brasilianum ([ Stossich, 1902] n. comb.) by Dubois (1959). It was transferred to Haematotrephus by Yamaguti (1958). Rudimentary oral sucker present— Zeliff (1946).
