Diagnosis. Cyclocoelidae ; Haemototrephinae. Body, lanceolate to linguiform, sometimes tapered anteriorly. Rudimentary oral sucker often present; rudimentary ventral sucker may be present in at least larval stages (e.g. cercarium of H. jaenschi ). Genital pore postpharyngeal. Ovary pretesticular to opposite to anterior testis forming triangle with diagonal to nearly tandem testes near posterior arch of cyclocoel. Uterine coils overreaching ceca laterally in some species, sometimes invading posttesticular space. Vitelline fields not confluent posteriorly. All but H. jaenschi ( Johnston & Simpson, 1940) n. comb. from Podiceps poliocephalus ( Podicipediformes : Podicipedidae ) and H. teesae ( Dharejo, Bilqees & Khan, 2007) n. comb. from Butastur teesa (Falconiformes: Accipitridae ) parasites in body cavity, air sacs and lungs of charadriiform birds.
