C. crenulatum ( Rudolphi, 1809)
Type host. Common redstart, Phoenicurus phoenicurus (Linnaeus) (Syn. Motacilla phoenicurus Linnaeus ) ( Passeriformes : Muscucapidae). Host listed as Sylvia phenicurus Latham (unknown species; likely a synonym of P. phoenicurus )— Dujardin ( 1845), but it was given as Motacilla phoenicurus by Yamaguti ( 1971).
Type locality. Europe; specific type locality unknown.
Remarks. This species was orignally listed as Monostoma crenulatum Rudolphi, 1809 . It was incompletely described by both Rudolphi ( 1809) and Dujardin ( 1845). There is not enough information available beyond body size to effectively delineate this species, and in our opinion, this species should be considered a species inquirenda; it was not included in the key to species provided below.
