comb. nov.

S. sinhaladvipa ( Fernando, 1950) n. comb.

Type host. Sri Lankan or Ceylon junglefowl, Gallus lafayettii Lesson ( Galliformes : Phasianidae ).

Type locality. Kalawewa, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon).

Remarks. This species was originally described as Cyclocoelum (Pseudhyptiasmus) sinhaladvipa Fernando, 1950 . It was listed as Morishitium sinhaldripa ( Fernando, 1950) by Yamaguti (1958, 1971). However, the species as originally described has an intertesticular ovary that forms a triangle with the testes (the ovary “lies between the two testes and to the left” = Cyclocoelinae), a postpharyngeal genital pore and the vitelline fields are not confluent posteriorly, placing it in Selfcoelum . Rudimentary oral and ventral sucker present—Fernando (1950).
