Capparis parviflora J. D. Hooker & Thomson (1872: 176) View in CoL
Lectotype (first-step designated by Jacobs 1965: 477):— INDIA, Shevagherry Hills (Sivagiri Hills), Herbarium Wight Peninsulae Orientalis No. 70 ( K two sheets); second-step lectotype, designated here; Barcode K000247321 !; isolectotypes K000247320 ! & HUH00042271! (GH-Digital image!).
Distribution:— INDIA (Kerala and Tamil Nadu). Endemic.
Note: Hooker & Thomson (1872: 176) originally described the species as Capparis parviflora J. D. Hooker & Thomson , which is a later homonym of Capparis parviflora Boisser (1843: 4) . Hence, Sundararagahavan (1982) proposed a new name as Capparis shevaroyensis Sundararaghavan (1982: 72.) based on Jacobs (1965) who misunderstood and erroneously stated the type locality as Shevaroys instead of Shevagherry (Sivagiri Hills). Moreover, hitherto this species has not been reported from Shevaroys (Senthilkumar & Krishnamurthy 1993, Pullaiah & Rao 2001). But as per ICN Article 51 (McNeill et al. 2012) the name is valid and treated as accepted name.
