Lectotype (Howard, Fl. Lesser Antilles 5: 42. 1989): [icon] "Lupulus folio trifido, fructu tricocco et hispido" in Plumier, Descr. Pl. Amér.: 87, t. 101. 1693.

Generitype of Dalechampia Linnaeus.

Current name: Dalechampia scandens L. View in CoL ( Euphorbiaceae ).

Note: Radcliffe-Smith (in Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Euphorbiaceae : 287 (1987) wrongly indicated 1138.3 (LINN), a sheet annotated only by Linnaeus filius and not original material for the name, as holotype. Armbruster (in Syst. Bot. 13: 310. 1988) stated the type "is presumably in Hortus Cliffortianus Herb. (BM)", but no specimen is preserved there.
