Types (by present designation). Lectotype, immature female, ZMA.CRUS.P.9875–9880, Pulu Tongkil, Sulu Archipelago, Philippines (approximately 6°1.0’N 121°50.0’E), 05/07/1899 – 06/07/1899, coralline algae, dredge, 13 m, coll. HMS Siboga View in CoL (stn 109). Paralectotype, ovigerous female, ZMA.CRUS.P.9873–9874, southern part of Molo Strait, Indonesia (approximately 9°120°E), 19/04/1899, fine sand or hard sand with broken shells and stones, dredge and trawl, 69–91 m, coll. HMS Siboga View in CoL (stn 51).
Diagnostic description. Head lateral cephalic lobe large, broadly rounded. Antenna 1 peduncular article 1 without anterodistal projection. Labrum, epistome and upper lip fused. Mandible palp article 2 anterodistal margin setose; article 3 with marginal and apical setae. Labium unknown. Gnathopod 1 parachelate; basis anterior margin with slender setae; propodus posterior margin distinctly crenate. Gnathopod 2 subchelate; carpus long; propodus palm transverse, concave; dactylus not fitting palm. Pereopod 6 basis posteroventral margin rounded. Pereopod 7 basis, posterior margin almost straight, minutely serrate, posteroventral margin oblique. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner subacute/narrowly rounded. Urosomite 1 dorsally smooth. Uropod 1 outer ramus slightly longer than inner ramus; uropod 2 outer ramus slightly longer than inner ramus; uropod 3 biramous, outer ramus slightly longer than inner ramus, inner ramus reaching article 2 of outer ramus.
Depth range. 13– 91 m.
Remarks. Pirlot (1936) attributed the name Waldeckia kroyeri crenulata to three specimens, one female from each Siboga station 109 and station 51, and one male of unknown origin (“sans indication d’origine”). We have examined this original material and conclude that this latter specimen is different from the two females. Pirlot (1936) illustrated only the distal portion of gnathopod 1 for this species. However the illustrated specimen could not be determined from the original material.
Distribution. Indonesia: Sulu Archipelago, Philippines and Molo Strait.
