( Fig. 25 View FIGURE 25 d)

Orchomene orchospina Hirayama, 1986: 16 View in CoL , figs 207–208.― Barnard & Karaman, 1991: 509.

Types. Holotype,? female, 3.0 mm, AMBL-Amph. 89.

Type locality. Tomioka Bay, Amakusa Island, Kyushu, Japan.

Diagnostic description. Head lateral cephalic lobe large, broadly rounded. Antenna 1 peduncular article 1 without anterodistal projection. Labrum, epistome and upper lip not known. Mandible palp article 2 anterodistal margin asetose; article 3 with apical setae. Labium with apical stylets on each lobe. Gnathopod 1 parachelate; basis anterior margin with few slender setae; propodus posterior margin smooth. Gnathopod 2 minutely chelate; carpus long; propodus palm obtuse, straight; dactylus fitting palm. Pereopod 6 basis posteroventral margin rounded. Pereopod 7 basis posterior margin almost straight, smooth, posteroventral margin rounded. Epimeron 3 posterior ventral corner produced, subacute. Urosomites 1–3 dorsally smooth. Uropod 1 rami subequal in length; uropod 2 rami subequal in length; uropod 3 inner ramus shorter than outer ramus, not reaching article 2 of outer ramus.

Depth range. Depth unknown.

Remarks. Hirayama (1986) probably based his description of this species on a juvenile. Waldeckia orchospina appears to be very similar to W. tomiokaensis and shares the same known distribution. They differ in the shape of the posterior margin of pereopod 7 (straight in W. orchospina and slightly rounded in W. tomiokaensis ) and in the labium which has apical stylets in W. orchospina .

Distribution. Japan: Amakusa Island, Tomioka Bay.
