Labrum, epistome and upper lip separate, upper lip protruding, apically subacute. Mandible palp article 2 anterodistal margin setose; article 3 with marginal and apical setae. Labium without apical stylets on each lobe. Gnathopod 1 parachelate; basis anterior margin with slender setae; propodus posterior margin smooth. Gnathopod 2 minutely chelate; carpus long; propodus palm slightly obtuse, straight; dactylus fitting palm. Pereopod 6 basis posteroventral margin rounded, distally truncated. Pereopod 7 basis, posterior margin slightly rounded, minutely crenate, posteroventral margin rounded. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner subquadrate. Urosomite 1 with small dorsodistal acute spine. Remarks. Waldeckia tangaroa is similar to W. obesa in two interesting characters: the labrum has the epistome and upper lip separate and urosomite 1 has a small dorsodistal acute spine. It differs from other species of Waldeckia in having a large anterodistally produced lobe on antenna 1 peduncular article 1 and a protruding apically acute upper lip.
Distribution. Australia: east of Newcastle, New South Wales, Tasman Sea.
