Live coloration. Adult male is olive on the carapace and legs, with major cheliped being yellow brown ( Fig. 3 A, B). Adult female is gray, finely mottled with pale gray, on the carapace, legs are gray, and sides of carapace, merus of legs, and minor chelipeds dark purple ( Fig. 3 C, D).

Distribution. West Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean ( China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sumatra, Burma, Bengal).

Remarks. Uca paradussumieri is widely distributed in West Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean. In China, specimens were collected from Fujian, Guangdong (including Hong Kong), and northern Hainan (see Material examined). Old records of “ U. dussumieri ” in China (see reference list above), most likely belong to U. paradussumieri (see Remarks under U. dussumieri ), and its range may thus extend north to Jiangsu, East China ( Table 1 ; cf. Fig. 1 ).
