Rhyzobius wanati Tomaszewska View in CoL
Rhyzobius wanati Tomaszewska, 2010: 227 View in CoL .
This species resembles R. nigripennis but is distinctive because of its black cordiform elytra without contrasting marking ( Tomaszewska 2010). This endemic species has been recently described from specimens from Mt Panié and Mt Aoupinié, at altitudes up to 1,300m ( Tomaszewska 2010). It appears to be a forest dweller, but no information is available on its diet and ecology.
Literature records. NEW CALEDONIA: Mt. Panié, 20.33°S, 164.46°E, 1300 m, humid forest, night beating near refuge hut, 2.ii.2004 (M. Wanat rec.) (ANIC); Aoupinié, 21.09°S, 165.19°E, 420–530 m, road to sawmill, 7.ii.2004 (M. Wanat rec.) (ANIC, MIZ) ( Tomaszewska 2010).
