Diagnosis. Antenna black except joint brown. Proboscis nearly 2.5 times longer than head. Dorsum of thorax with long sparse yellowish hairs, but bare at middle; halteres dark brown. Dorsum of abdomen with long dense yellowish erect hairs and tergites 5–8 with a row of dark brown bristles posteriorly. Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly longer than high, epiphallus turriform, acute at tip in dorsal view.

Description. Male. Body length 13 mm, wing length 12 mm.

Head ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 11 ) black with brown dust. Hairs on head black and white; frons narrowing directed distally, with long dense white and black erect hairs, face with long dense white erect hairs and long sparse black erect hairs at edge; occiput with long dense yellow erect hairs, long sparse black erect hairs, and short dense white recumbent hairs. Antenna black except joint brown; scape elongate with long dense white hairs; first flagellomere elongate, with short white scales near base, with a stylus at tip. Proboscis black, bare, nearly 2.5 times longer than head.

Thorax black with brown dust. Hairs on thorax mostly yellowish; postpronotal lobe with long dense yellowish hairs, mesonotum with long dense yellowish hairs; dorsum with long sparse yellowish hairs bare at middle, anepisternum and katepisternum with long dense white hairs. Scutellum black with brown dust, with six yellow bristles each side. Legs yellow except femora black. Hairs on legs mostly brown, bristles yellow. Femora with dense white scales, tibiae with dense yellow scales; tibiae and tarsi with short yellow hairs. Mid femur with two av apically; hind femur with six av apically. Fore tibia with 10 ad, 11 pd; mid tibia with 12 ad, 13 pd, eight av, 10 pv; hind tibia with 10 ad, nine pd, seven av and nine pv. Wing ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 11 – 20 ) faint brown except base and anterior margin brown. Vein r-m close to tip of cell dm, cell r5 closed. Base of vein C with brush-like long black bristles and yellowish scales and white hairs. Halteres dark brown.

Abdomen black with pale dust. Hairs on abdomen yellowish; dorsum with long dense yellowish erect hairs and tergites 5–8 with long dense dark brown bristles posteriorly. Sternites black except posterior edge yellow with white dust, hairs on white.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 61–66 View FIGURES 61 – 66 ). Epandrium trapezoidal, distinctly longer than high; cercus well exposed in lateral view; epandrium a little longer than wide, slightly narrowing from base to tip in dorsal view; gonocoxite with black bristle-like hairs apically, distinctly narrowing apically in ventral view; gonostylus elongate, its tip acute in lateral view; epiphallus turriform, acute at tip in dorsal view, epiphallus with a rather long and curved at middle in lateral view.

Female. Body length 12–14 mm, wing length 12–14 mm. Similar to male, but wing hyaline except anterior margin faint brown; thorax and scutellum with pale dust.

Distribution. China (Beijing, Inner Mongolia).

Etymology. The species epithet derives from the Latin “ turriformis ” [=turriform]; referring to the shape of the epiphallus.

Remarks. The new species is similar to A. chinensis Paramonov , but it can be separated from the latter by the dorsum of the abdomen covered with the long dense yellowish erect hairs and tergites 5–8 are with the long dense dark brown bristles posteriorly, the gonostylus elongate in lateral view, and the epiphallus turriform in dorsal view. In A. chinensis , the dorsum of the abdomen is covered with the long dense yellowish erect hairs and posterior with a row of yellowish bristles with tip brown, tergites 7–8 are have the long white hairs, the gonostylus is oval in lateral view, and the epiphallus is subtriangular in dorsal view ( Paramonov, 1930).
