TYPE SPECIES: Alavesia subiasi † Waters and Arillo, 1999: 60 , by original designation .

DIAGNOSIS (from Sinclair and Kirk-Spriggs, 2010): Diminutive cell dm, M 1+2 and M 4 greater than half the length of wing and widely divergent, postpedicel very long and lanceolate, stylus three-articled, legs with parallel rows of minute setulae.
