Subfamily: Oecanthinae View in CoL
Oecanthus dulcisonans Gorochov, 1993
Material examined. MALTA: Ta’ Qali , 15.ix.1974, 1♂, 1♀ (leg./det. M. J. Ebejer; in MJE coll.); Wardija , 16.x.1983, 1♂, (leg. L. F. Cassar; det. B. Massa; in LFC coll.); Fomm ir-Rih , 29.x.2014, 1♂ (leg./det. M. J. Ebejer; in MJE coll.) .
The occurrence of this species in Malta was first brought to light by one of the authors [MJE] and is being reported for the first time in the present contribution. More work is required to establish its local status and distribution.
Distribution. Appears to have a patchy distribution that extends from the Arabian Peninsula to the Mediterranean and Canary Islands.
Oecanthus pellucens pellucens (Scopoli, 1763)
Widespread and relatively quite common in rural settings and valley systems, especially on herbaceous shrubbery and tall grasses, including reeds.
Distribution. Mediterranean Basin, extending across the Palaearctic and Middle Eastern regions.
