Description. The stout biconical shell comprises four teleoconch whorls; the protoconch is eroded. The spire whorls develop an angulation at mid-height and bear a row of tiny, spiny nodes at the upper and the lower sutures and a more prominent one along the angulation. This angulation separates a flat to weakly concave sutural ramp from a flat sided flank, which is subparallel to the axis. The nodes are connected by thin, prosocline axial ribs. The sutures frame the nodes and are wavy. On the last whorl, the lower spiral row of spiny nodes is free and marks a basal angulation. The base contracts quickly, is only moderately convex and bears several weak spiral threads. Outer lip varix-like, thickened internally, bearing five denticles. Columella deeply excavated mid-height, bearing two strongly oblique folds, with a third weaker fold bordering the siphonal canal; siphonal canal short, deeply incised and slightly bent.
Discussion. The historical placement of this species in Cancellaria Lamarck, 1799 is obviously wrong as it lacks the characteristic columellar folds of Cancellaria . Its sharp sculpture and the angulated whorls place this species in Bonellitia and allow a separation from Admetula (see Landau et al. 2006, Verhecken 2007). This very rare species is similar to Bonellitia bonellii ( Bellardi, 1841) . It differs from that species in its smaller size and the stout biconical shape. Even stout specimens of B. bonellii have a convex last whorl and lack the conspicuous flank, which is subparallel to the axis. The species is found so far only in shelf deposits of the Early to Middle Badenian but is unknown from shallow water faunas.
Distribution. Only known from the Paratethys; few specimens of this species have been recorded so far from the Polish–Carpathian Foredeep and from the Transylvanian Basin.
Paratethys —Badenian: Polish–Carpathian Foredeep ( Czech Republic: Ostrava, Doubrava, Orlová); Transylvanian Basin ( Romania: CoŞteiu de Sus).
