Vernacular Names: New Caledonia Wattled Bat.

Distribution: New Caledonia.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Endangered.

Discussion: Often treated as a subspecies of gouldii (e.g., Koopman, 1971 a, 1994; Tidemann, 1986), but evidence for synonymy is weak; I follow Flannery (1995 b) in provisionally recognizing neocaledonicus as distinct pending further study.
