In Macau, this species ranges 11-13 mm in total length and 2.5-3 mm in maximum width. During the current census it has been observed mainly at night under artificial lights, however on one occasion it was found during daytime feeding on flowers of Ligustrum sinense . In nearby Hong Kong, larvae have been documented to bore into wood of Cinnamomum camphora , Citrus spp., and Melia azedarach ( Yiu 2009). Liu (1992) reported them as serious pests of Punica granatum in Sichuan, but also more generally of Malus domestica , Pyrus sp. and Ricinus communis .
