Basionym: ― Salsola barbata Aellen View in CoL in Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 4: 25 (1961).

Type : ― SOUTH-WEST AFRICA [ NAMIBIA ]. Dist. Rehoboth: Ababis, häufig auf Niederterasse, 17 October 1939, Volk 941 (holotype M-0107438!; isotype LE-00011782!) .

Note: ― The accession LE-00011783 ( J. P. H. Acocks 13196a; South Africa. Prov. Cape, dist. Calvinia , Rietkolk Oos ) is listed by JSTOR Global Plants as a paratype of Salsola barbata .

‒ Salsola calcarea C.A.Sm. , in schedis, Fleck 367a (holotype PRE-0374285-1!; isotype Z-000002797!), nom. nud. (Art. 38.1a of ICN).

Distribution: ― Namibia : Klein Karas region, Rehoboth, Naukluft Mts, Namib Desert (Lüderitz); South Africa (NC, WC): Gamka Karoo, Namaqualand, central and northern Bushmanland.
