Type species: Cheronella stuberi Miller, 1955 , by original designation.

Diagnostic characters. Body of small size, oval. Head shorter than pronotum; anteocular area prominently anteriorly produced and longer than postocular, its sides parallel; postocular area globose with a short neck; first antennal segment shorter than anteocular area, extending to apex of head; first segment of rostrum nearly straight, and distinctly longer than remaining segments together; eyes large, prominent; ocelli large, not elevated. Pronotum wider than long; collar not prominent; anterior lobe subequal in length to or shorter than posterior; anterior and posterior lobes with a median longitudinal sulcus; lateral sulci on posterior lobe obsolescent; lateral pronotal angles rounded; scutellum triangular with apex produced. Clavus and areas between veins of corium membranous; veins of corium very wide and raised; clavus with external margin thickened; external cell of membrane narrower than internal cell at base. All femora incrassate; tibiae somewhat short and thick. External apical angle of second connexival segment produced; abdomen intersegmentally ventrally carinulate. Head, body, veins of corium with abundant setae; legs moderately setose. Mesosternum with a median carina; metasternum convex.
