Notes. New state record. This species is recognizable by its lighter-colored humeral spots. There is a moderate degree of color variation within the series examined where the base color can range from brown to piceous. The pronotum often has at least a distinct light median longitudinal stripe but it can also be nearly concolorous and the pronotum can be the same hue as the elytra or range from darker to lighter in color. The humeral spots vary slightly in size and contrast from the rest of the elytra. Coloration did not seem to covary with sex or any other obvious character. Five digitized records are only determined to genus (from Cochise and Pima counties and deposited in the Triplehorn Insect Collection at The Ohio State University) and could represent either this species or the following species.
