Lectotype ( Martínez Ortega & al. in Taxon 51: 763. 2003 [2002]): Herb. Celsius 5: 780 ( UPS) .

Current name: Veronica agrestis L. ( Scrophulariaceae ).

Note: Fischer (in Feddes Repert. 108: 115. 1997) designated Herb. Linn. 26.58 ( LINN) as lectotype, a specimen of V. arvensis which had already been formally designated as the type of the latter name. As none of the elements then thought to be original material for V. agrestis corresponded with the usage of the name, Martínez Ortega & al. (in Taxon 49: 99. 2000) proposed the name for conservation with a conserved type. However, further original material, from the Celsius herbarium in Uppsala, subsequently came to light. This material is identifiable as V. agrestis and Martínez Ortega & al. (in Taxon 51: 763. 2003) therefore rejected Fischer’s type choice (Art. 9.17) in favour of a Celsius collection, and withdrew their proposal to reject the name.
