Total length. Male holotype 11.0 mm; male paratype 11.3 mm; female unknown.
Holotype description. Head and thorax. Structural features of head and thorax ( Figs. 93–94 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) much as described above for A. amazonensis sp. nov., except for median length of crown approximately equal to interocular width and 7/10 transocular width.
Color. Crown ( Fig. 93 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) yellow with dark brown irregular marks basally, medially, laterally and apically; frontogenal, temporal and coronal sutures dark brown to black. Pronotum and mesonotum ( Fig. 93 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) yellow, latter with pair of irregular brown areas anteriorly. Forewings ( Figs. 93–94 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) mostly yellow, except for membranous apical portion; basal half with pale yellow stripe along costal margin. Face ( Fig. 94 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) pale yellow with brown to black area on superior portion extending posteriorly over thorax. Lateral and ventral portions of thorax and legs ( Fig. 94 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) yellow.
Male genitalia. Pygofer ( Fig. 95 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ), in lateral view, strongly produced posteriorly, expanded apically; without basiventral projection; setae distributed mostly on distal portion of disc. Subgenital plates ( Fig. 96 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ), in ventral view, triangular, basal third slightly expanded laterally and then tapering gradually toward apex, completely fused to each other preapically [a previously unknown feature in the genus]; in lateral view, plates moderately elongate, extending as far posteriorly as distal third of pygofer; plate surface with scattered setae. Connective ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ), in dorsal view, T-shaped; arms very small; stalk elongate, narrow, with median keel, slightly expanded apically. Style ( Fig. 97 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ), in dorsal view, extending posteriorly much farther than apex of connective; without preapical lobe; apex acute, directed inward. Aedeagus ( Figs. 98–99 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) symmetrical; shaft, in lateral view, elongate, slightly curved dorsally, narrowed apically; in ventral view, bifid, with pair of apical processes directed outward ( Fig. 99 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ). Anal tube ( Fig. 100 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ) without processes.
Female unknown.
Intraspecific variation. The color of the pronotum and forewings varies from yellow to brown. Some variation may be due to fading of coloration in preserved specimens.
Etymology. The name of the new species, interrupta , refers to the absence of separation between the subgenital plates at the preapical portion ( Fig. 96 View FIGURES 93 – 100 ).
Type material. Holotype: male, “Sinop— MT [state of Mato Grosso]\ X. 1976 \ M. [ Moacir ] Alvarenga col.” ( DZUP) . Paratype: one male, “SINOP—M. Grosso\ Brasil—X/1975\ M. Alvarenga” (MNRJ).
