Diatrype albopruinosa (Schwein.) Cooke, Grevillea 13: 37. 1884 ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES )
Specimens examined:— CHINA. Heilongjiang Province: vicinity of Sanjiang Nature Reserve, Dongxing village, on Maackia amurensis Rupr. et Maxim. , 5 August 2004, L. Vasilyeva, VLA P-1489; Weihushan Nature Reserve: Northern Tiger Forest Garden, on Padus avium Mill. , 9 August 2004, L. Vasilyeva, VLA P-1488.
Stromata small, wart-like, erumpent from bark with a circular, brownish or almost black ectostromatic disc 0.5–1 mm diam., surrounded by a black line within the substrate; perithecia monostichous or distichous, singly erumpent, 200–250 µm diam., with short and stellate at the top ostiolar necks. Asci cylindrical, paraphysate, 40–60 × 10–15 µm in spore bearing part, stalks of different length, containing 8 biseriate or conglobate ascospores, apical ring indistinguishable. Ascospores one-celled, allantoid, brownish, 12–15(–18) × 3.5–4 µm.
This species has already been reported from several provinces of China, namely Gangsu, Jiangsu, and Shaanxi ( Tai, 1979, Teng 1996, Zhuang 2005). While discussing its pattern of distribution ( Vasilyeva & Stephenson 2010), we noted that the area of this species in North America extends more to the west than for many other species with ‘Asa- Gray disjunction’ (in north-easyern Asia and eastern North America). Perhaps, the same is true for the area of Diatrype albopruinosa in north-eastern Asia: The findings in Heilongjiang and Jiangsu Provinces are close to eastern edge of Asia but the range of distribution extends as far to the west as Gansu Province.
