Genus Phascolosoma Leuckart View in CoL

Remarks. Two subgenera, Phascolosoma (Phascolosoma) Leuckart and Phascolosoma (Fisherana) Stephen , were recognised by Cutler (1994). The key difference between these two subgenera is that, whereas species of subgenus Fisherana have a uniform continuous layer of longitudinal muscle in the body wall, those of Phascolosoma sensu stricto have the muscle gathered in bands. Both species reported in the present study belong to subgenus Phascolosoma .
