( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 12 , 13 View FIGURES 13 – 24 , 25 View FIGURES 25 – 36 )

Description. Holotype male. Size, 9.2 mm x 3.3 mm. Head brassy-brown, between antennae in center of frons indistinctly greenish, an irregular brownish-black chevron above middle of frons, and areas above chevron to vertex with bluish-black reticulations somewhat stronger on upper area, with grayish-white setae; clypeus shiny-bronze, slightly rounded on each side of median notch. Antennae shiny bronze, 4th antennomere more triangular than others. Pronotum about 1.7 times wider than long, widest at anterior ¼, lateral margins gradually converging posterior, disc slightly concave at apical middle, irregular smooth callosites lateral to median depression and between humeral angle and center of pronotum; remainder of pronotum with coppery-bronze punctures, larger laterally. Scutellum smooth, black, triangular. Elytra wider than pronotum, sides rounded in front, subparallel to widest behind middle, lateral margin with serrulations larger on apical half, surface relatively smooth with four distinct costae on each elytron, 1st parallel to sutural margin, less distinct anteriorly, 2nd relatively straight from about ¼ distance from suture to lateral margin and running entire length of elytron, 3rd more wavy near middle of elytron and interrupted by anterior fovea, and 4th about 1/6 from lateral elytron margin, parallel to lateral margin and less distinct than other costae; foveae indistinct, more bronze than elytral surface. Underside: prosternum irregularly punctate, with many long grayish-white setae; abdomen bronzybrown, laterally somewhat maroon, laterally abdominal ventrites 2 to 5 with irregular raised dark purple callosities. Abdominal punctures with setae about 1/3 length of abdominal ventrites. Legs with all tarsi dark green, punctures coppery-bronze and with more intense color on obtuse tooth than rest of profemur; 5 protibial teeth (2 outer ones small, 3 middle ones larger). Row of tiny teeth on mesotibia. Male genitalia as in Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 24 . Overall the parameres appear to be more bulbous than those of most of the other species in this species group.

Allotype female. Size, 8.3 mm x 3.3 mm. Frons brown, no trace of green; sensory area of antennomeres dull brown, rather than bronzy-brown. Underside: with raised lateral callosities on ventrites 2 to 5 bluish rather than bronzy-brown like remainder of abdomen. Last tergite with small, round depressions about as wide as deep, with rather large punctures on either side of slightly wavy central carina. Tarsi dark greenish. Female pygidium ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 25 – 36 ), depressions on either side of central carina are rather shallow and punctate.

Type specimens. Described from 32 males and 11 females. Holotype male (red label, United States National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D. C). TEXAS: Pecos Co., 28 mi S. Ft. Stockton, HWY 385 rest stop, 1-V-99, E. G. Riley. Beating Quercus mohriana Buckl. ex. Rydb. Hosts. One male emerged in March-1999 from Q. mohriana Buckl. ex. Rydb., wood collected 28 mi S. Ft. Stockton, Texas (R. Turnbow), and also Dan Heffern & Dan Sundberg snapped adults from 15 – 20 mm diameter trunks of Q. mohriana while searching for a longhorn beetle. All other Texas adults were taken on Q. mohriana except those collected by R.S. Anderson in 1982 and R. Turnbow in 2002 on Q. havardii Rydb.

Comments. Some variation exists in the roughness of the thorax with some individuals having lateral callosities interrupted, but running parallel with the sides of the pronotum. In some individuals, there is a small greenish area near the clypeus. This is the smallest species in this species group. Males: 7.5 – 10.4 mm long, 3.0 – 4.1 mm wide; Females: 7.8 – 10.9 mm long and 3.1 – 5.2 mm wide.
