Type material. CHINA, Sichuan: Holotype ♂, Baoguosi, E’mei, 500 m, 22.VII.1974, leg. Y Zhou & F Yuan, slide No. SH 20235 . Paratype: 1♂, same data as holotype, slide No. SH 20189 .
Diagnosis. The new species is similar to N. bellela ( Walker, 1863) in the forewing having radiate stripes along veins from beyond the outer fascia to the apex. It can be distinguished by the forewing with six brown stripes and the second stripe forked distally; in the male genitalia by the apex-rounded valva fused for basal 1/5 and convex at middle on the ventral margin, and the phallus uniformly wide distally. In N. bellela , the forewing has seven black stripes, and the second stripe is not forked distally; the apex-pointed valva is separated basally and obliquely straight on the ventral margin, and the phallus is widened in the distal 1/3 ( Küppers 1980: 267, fig. 76, as N. esmarkella Wocke, 1864 = N. bellela ).
Description. Adult ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1‒6 ). Male wingspan 15.0−16.0 mm.
Head: Vertex pale yellow; frons bronzy. Eye interocular index 0.70−0.73. Proboscis dark brown, with pale yellow scales in basal 1/3. Labial palpus 1.4−1.5 × vertical eye diameter; yellow except third palpomere dark brown. Antenna 2.8−3.0 × length of forewing; scape and flagellum both dark brown.
Thorax: Mesonotum and tegula both brown, with metallic luster. Forewing ground color yellow, with brown streaks along veins from base to inner fascia, with black rectangular spot at base of Sc; three black lines: first line from near base to near posterior angle of cell, second line from base to beyond 2/5 of wing along CuP, third line from base to 1/5 along dorsum; inner and outer fasciae yellowish brown, inner fascia slightly sinuate, outer fascia curved inward medially, medial fascia yellow, narrowed at anterior 1/3; six brown stripes radiating from beyond outer fascia to apex along veins from R 4 to CuA 1 respectively, second stripe counting from costal margin forked distally; fringe brown. Hindwing and fringe grayish brown. Foreleg pale yellow; midleg yellow except tibia brown dorsally; hindleg yellow except tibia brown in distal 1/3 on outer surface. Epiphysis yellow, at distal 1/3 of tibia, not reaching apex of tibia.
Abdomen: Dark brown.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 27‒32 ). Socius ovoid, length 2.1 × width. Tegumen with distinct median ridge. Uncus domeshaped. Valva fused for basal 1/5, narrowly rounded at apex, slightly concave medially on costal margin, convex at middle on ventral margin; sacculus reaching basal 1/4 of ventral margin. Transtilla with a triangular anterior emargination medially, roundly convex anterolaterally; median process spiniform, apically reaching posterior 3/7 of tegumen. Vinculum 2.0 × length of valva, broadly rounded anteriorly. Phallus same length as vinculum, almost straight, swollen at base, with spines in distal 1/5 ( Fig. 30a View FIGURES 27‒32 ). Juxta 0.74 × length of phallus; lateral arm of arrow head broad, 0.30 × length of arrow head.
Female unknown.
Distribution. China (Sichuan).
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin bifurcus and fascia, referring to the distally forked second streak counting from costal margin.
