Piriana pygmaea ( Bates, 1881) View in CoL
( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 22–25. 22 )
Carterica pygmaea Bates, 1881: 186 View in CoL .
Piriana pygmaea View in CoL ; Santos-Silva et al., 2018: 11. This species was described based on a single specimen from Nicaragua. Currently, it is known from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama ( Monné 2022; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2022). The only difference we found between the holotype and other specimens examined by us is that the head is entirely black, while in the other specimens the frons and a wide band on vertex are orangish brown. However, as no other morphological differences were found, we think this chromatic difference is just a specific variation.
Material examined. ECUADOR (new country record), Pichincha: Mindo, El Septimo Paraiso Hotel , 1600 m, 1 female, 17. VI .2021, J. Vlasak leg. ( JVCO) .
