Diagnostic description. Body subcylindrical. Antenna 1 shorter than peduncle of antenna 2. Antenna 2 article 1 not bulbous; article 2 cone gland with row of setae. Eyes absent. Mandible molar dominating. Maxilliped outer plate longer than palp article 2, not longer than palp article 3; palp article 4 reduced. Gnathopod 1 subchelate, coxa anteroventral corner produced, acute or subacute. Gnathopod 2 subchelate, bigger than gnathopod 1. Urosomite 2 without concavity and setae. Uropod 1 peduncle with two basofacial robust setae. Uropod 3 peduncle shorter than rami, rami subequal in length and shape with fringing simple, long setae. Telson deeply cleft.

Remarks. The only other hadziidiran families with very short antenna 1 are the Cheirocratidae and the Megaluropidae . The cheirocratid genus Casco Shoemaker, 1930 (Cheirocratidae) also has a large molar dominating the mandible.
