Type Locality: " Costa Rica;" restricted to Escazú, San José, by Goodwin (1946); corrected to Heredia, Volcán Barbara, by Wetzel and Avila-Pires (1980).

Vernacular Names: Hoffmann's Two-toed Sloth.
