NEW STATUS |
Camponotus innocens Forel HNS 1909. NEW STATUS.
Camponotus trapeziceps var. innocens Forel HNS 1909: 264. [w syntypes examined, MHNG; San Bernadino , Cordillera, Paraguay (Fiebrig)] .
Camponotus (Myrmaphaenus) trapeziceps var. innocens Forel HNS . Emery 1925: 156.
Both C. innocens HNS and C. trapeziceps HNS (w syntypes examined, MHNG) occur in Paraguay, but there is little justification for viewing these sympatric forms as conspecific. To my knowledge major workers of C. innocens HNS have never been collected, but the minor of C. innocens HNS has a markedly more slender head in full-face view than C. trapeziceps HNS , a more elongate mesosoma, and thicker, longer pubescence on the head and mesosoma.
