Comments and diagnosis
Austrostelis amapaensis is known only from two male specimens and it is the only species known from northern Brazil (Amapá) . This species is most similar to A. catamarcensis and A. zebrata , having ferruginous markings on head and mesosoma. It differs by a predominantly yellowish amber head; yellow scutellum; yellow band on T1 ; pale yellow band on T2 – T6 ; and disc of T3 with denser and shallower punctures than disc of T2 .
Variation. In the holotype the postocellar band extends through almost the entire gena, while in the paratype the band extends only halfway.
