Etymology. The specific epithet is honor of Dr. Fred R. Wanless (1940–2017), the British arachnologist who made great contributions on the taxonomy of Salticidae .
Diagnosis. The new species resembles C. minotaurus sp. nov. in the similar shape of median septum and the bulging spermathecae, but can be distinguished from the latter by the presence of CPSB on the cephalon ( Fig. 177 View FIGURES 176–182 ), the short embolus coiled half a circle ( Figs 184 View FIGURES 183–185 , 187 View FIGURES 186–188 ), the less coiled copulatory ducts, and the sub-spherical spermathecae ( Figs 191, 193 View FIGURES 189–194 ).
Description. Male. Habitus as shown in Fig. 176 View FIGURES 176–182 . Carapace length 1.42; abdomen length 1.10. Measurements of eyes: AME 0.32, ALE 0.20, PME 0.07, PLE 0.18. Measurements of legs: I 2.36 (0.74, 0.38, 0.59, 0.36, 0.29), II 2.01 (0.63, 0.32, 0.43, 0.33, 0.30), III 1.93 (0.60, 0.20, 0.36, 0.44, 0.33), IV 1.97 (0.54, 0.22, 0.39, 0.50, 0.32). Chelicerae with fang-like projection distally ( Fig. 181 View FIGURES 176–182 ); promargin with two teeth, retromargin with one bicuspid tooth. Palp ( Figs 183–188 View FIGURES 183–185 View FIGURES 186–188 ): embolus short, coiled half a circle; embolic disc small and sclerotized; LED narrow, not serrulate-edged; tegulum slightly sclerotized, tegular lobe present; retrolateral tibial apophysis wide at base and pointed apically in retrolateral view, tip slightly inner-curved in ventral view. Sternum without setal tuft. Color in alcohol ( Fig. 176 View FIGURES 176–182 ): carapace reddish brown, with CPSB; dorsal abdomen pale yellow, with dark crux-shaped markings, not obviously sclerotized; ventral abdomen grayish brown; legs I–II darker than legs III–IV.
Female. Habitus as shown in Figs 177–178 View FIGURES 176–182 . Carapace length 1.57; abdomen length 1.22. Measurements of eyes: AME 0.31, ALE 0.20, PME 0.04, PLE 0.18. Measurements of legs: I 1.97 (0.83, 0.49, 0.60, 0.41, 0.24), II 2.13 (0.68, 0.36, 0.45, 0.36, 0.28), III 2.25 (0.76, 0.36, 0.42, 0.42, 0.29), IV 2.36 (0.73, 0.29, 0.52, 0.48, 0.34).
