Diplommatina (Sinica) planicollis Möllendorff, 1897: 96 (JaVa) View in CoL . Kobelt 1902: 470. Zilch 1953: 35, pl. 12 fig. 179. Diplommatina planicollis View in CoL — Van Benthem Jutting 1948: 603, fig. 60.

Diagnosis. Diplommatina planicollis is characterized by a large, sinistral shell with an almost planar last whorl and with a spiral palatal fold inside the last whorl ventrolaterally right below the middle of the whorl.

Shell ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 ; Table 1). Sinistral; spindle-shaped with slender conical early whorls and a narrowed last whorl; with 7–7.75 whorls separated by a deep suture; protoconch smooth; teleoconch with oblique ribs (56–84 on the penultimate whorl, fewer on the last whorl), which often become weaker or obsolete on the last whorl; without discernible spiral striae between the ribs; corneous; subtranslucent; last whorl almost planar, angular near the lower margin, ventrally with a constriction; aperture rounded, angular at the transition from columellar to basal side; upper insertion of the peristome distinctly ascending towards aperture; insertions of the peristome connected by a weak callus; peristome expanded, with a blunt process at the transition from columellar to basal side, thickened, not doubled; aperture with a distinct columellar lamella; with a parietal lamella ventrolaterally right inside the last whorl; with a spiral palatal fold ventrolaterally right inside the last whorl below the middle of the whorl and with a radial palatal fold ventrally near the suture; umbilicus closed; operculum thin, corneous, circular, paucispiral. Shell height 4.5–5.1 mm, shell diameter 2.2–2.65 mm.

Habitat. In leaf litter and on damp rocks in primary and secondary forests on volcanic soils at 1400–2400 m a.s.l.

Type material. Indonesia, Java (lectotype of D. planicollis [designated by Zilch 1953] SMF 105195; paralectotypes of D. planicollis SMF 105196/11).
