Diagnosis. Diplommatina perpusilla is characterized by its minute-sized, distinctly ribbed shell, the ventrolaterally right or ventral constriction of the last whorl and the ventrally or ventrolaterally left position of the spiral palatal fold.

Shell ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 29 – 32 ; Table 1). Dextral; spindle-shaped with conical early whorls and a narrowed last whorl; with 5– 6 whorls separated by a deep suture; protoconch smooth; teleoconch with slightly oblique ribs (36–61 on the penultimate whorl; fewer on the last whorl); with fine spiral striae between the ribs; whitish or corneous; subtranslucent; last whorl rounded, with an indistinct ventrolaterally right or ventral constriction; aperture almost circular, slightly angular at the transition from columellar to basal side; upper insertion of the peristome ascending towards aperture; insertions of the peristome connected by an indistinct callus; peristome expanded, thickened, doubled; aperture with a prominent columellar lamella; with a parietal lamella ventrolaterally left inside the last whorl; with a short or long spiral palatal fold in the middle of the whorl ventrolaterally left or ventrally inside the last whorl, and with a radial palatal fold ventrolaterally right or ventrally close to the suture; umbilicus closed; operculum thin, corneous, circular, paucispiral. Shell height 1.6–2.05 mm, shell diameter 0.85–1.1 mm.

Remarks. Diplommatina perpusilla differs from the probably most closely related D. ristiae n. sp. in the distinct ribbing, the ventrolaterally right or ventral constriction of the last whorl and the ventral or ventrolateral left position of the spiral palatal fold.

Diplommatina perpusilla is variable with regard to the palatal folds. Usually there is a long spiral palatal fold ventrally inside the last whorl and the constriction of the last whorl and the radial palatal fold are ventrolaterally right. In some specimens or populations (e.g. from Cibodas, Cibeureum, Talaga Bodas, Karaha Bodas) the armature is shifted towards the aperture. The constriction of the last whorl and the radial palatal fold are ventral and the spiral palatal fold is short and situated ventrolaterally left. Moreover, the peristome is often less distinctly expanded in such specimens. There are also intermediate specimens and specimens with rudimentary or even missing palatal folds (e.g. from Mt. Sawal Wildlife Reserve).

Habitat. In leaf litter and on deadwood in agroforest, plantation and secondary forest on calcareous and volcanic soils at 43–2800 m a.s.l.
