Type locality: “Abyssinie” [ Ethiopia] .

Distribution: Ethiopia ( d’Orbigny 1908, 1913).

Comment: Gillet (1925) proposed Onthophagus abyssinicus as a new replacement name for Onthophagus brevifrons d’Orbigny, 1908 which is a junior primary homonym of Onthophagus brevifrons Horn, 1881 .
