Type material. HOLOTYPE: Ƌ, labeled ‘ China: Hunan Prov., Guidong County, Bamian Shan , 25°59'53''N 113°41'54''E, 1760 m, 04.VI.2014, Peng & Shen leg.’ ( SNUC) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 1 Ƌ, 1 ♀, same label data as holotype (SNUC).

Description. Measurements (in mm) and ratios: BL 8.90–9.29, FL 4.11–4.17, HL 1.02–1.11, HW 1.15–1.21, AnL 2.22–2.34, PL 1.47–1.54, PW 1.26–1.33, EL 0.81–0.86 AL 1.67, HL/HW 0.89–0.92, HW/PW 0.90–0.91, HL/ PL 0.69–0.72, PL/PW 1.16–1.17, EL/PL 0.55–0.56.

Habitus as in Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 B. Body dark brown, legs brown, antennae dark brown to light brown.

Head: punctation coarse and sparse, distinctly sparser in median dorsal portion; interstices with shallow microreticulation. Eyes moderately small and composed of approximately 60 ommatidia.

Pronotum with weakly convex lateral margins in dorsal view; punctation similar to that of head; impunctate midline broad; interstices glossy and without microsculpture.

Elytral punctation dense and defined. Hind wings completely reduced. Protarsi without appreciable sexual dimorphism, distinctly dilated.

Abdomen with fine and dense punctation, that of tergite VII sparser than that of anterior tergites; interstices with very shallow microsculpture; posterior margin of tergite VII without palisade fringe; tergite VIII with distinct sexual dimorphism.

Male. Posterior margin of tergite VIII convex; sternites III–VI unmodified; sternite VII ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 D) strongly transverse, with shallow median impression posteriorly, this impression with short blackish setae directed obliquely postero-mediad, posterior margin weakly concave in the middle; sternite VIII ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 E) symmetric and weakly transverse, with longitudinal median impression extending along whole sternite, middle of sternite narrowly without setae, posterior excision concave, small but distinct; aedeagus as in Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 F, G; ventral process moderately long and apically curved in lateral view, weakly asymmetric in ventral view; dorsal plate with long, large apical portion and with short, weakly sclerotized basal portion; internal sac with two sclerotized spines of different shapes and with membranous ring-shaped structure.

Female. Posterior margin of tergite VIII ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 A) pointed in the middle; sternite VIII as in Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 B, with dense micropubescence, convexly produced posteriorly; tergite IX ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 C) with medially undivided, moderately long antero-median portion and slender postero-lateral processes; tergite X ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 C) 1.3 times as long as antero-median portion of tergite IX.

Comparative notes. Lathrobium fumingi is distinguished from the syntopic L. bamianense by larger body size, darker coloration of the body, the small posterior excision of the male sternite VIII, the shapes of the ventral process and the dorsal plate of the aedeagus, and by the shape of the female tergite VIII.

Distribution and natural history. The type locality is situated in the Bamian Shan to the west of Guidong, eastern Hunan. The specimens were sifted from leaf litter and humus in a rhododendron forest at an altitude of 1760 m, together with L. bamianense .

Etymology. This species is dedicated to Mr. Fu-Ming Li, who supported us on our field trips.
