Description. Body entirely black with strongly blue metallic tinge. Antennae brownish with apical half of segment III, segments IV and V lighter. Maxillary palpi light yellow with apical half of segment III brown. Legs reddish brown except apical half of femora and basal third of tibiae dark brown.

BL: 4.9–6.7mm, FL: 2.8–3.3 mm.

HW: 1.02–1.16 mm, PL: 0.81–0.95 mm, PW: 0.76–0.84 mm, EL: 1.18–1.38 mm, EW: 1.12–1.26 mm, SL: 1.01–1.15 mm.

Head 0.91–0.92 times as wide as elytra, interocular area with two longitudinal furrows, median portion convex, slightly extending beneath the level of inner eye margins; punctures round and well delimited, almost same in size except few punctures close to the midline a little larger, the diameter of a large puncture as wide as median cross section of antennal segment II; interstices reticulated especially along the midline, much narrower than half the diameter of punctures except those along the midline of the convex median portion, which may be 1.5 times as wide as the diameter of punctures.

Pronotum 1.07–1.13 times as long as wide, disk uneven, with shallow median longitudinal furrow which is about half as long as pronotum, two small tubercles in posterior half; punctures similar to those of head in size, more or less confluent; interstices weakly microsculptured, mostly narrower than half the diameter of punctures, except those at longitudinal furrow, tubercles and some irregular places, which could be 1 to 1.5 times as wide as diameter of punctures.

Elytra 1.05–1.10 times as long as wide; disk relatively even, with two indistinct tubercles in anterior half; punctation on average slightly coarser than that of pronotum, obliquely confluent from humeral impression toward sutural end; interstices partially with faint reticulations, mostly narrower than half the diameter of punctures.

Legs with tarsomeres IV deeply bilobed.

Abdomen subcylindrical, segments III–VI with paratergites punctural and horizontal, tergite VII with apical membranous fringe; punctures round, becoming slightly smaller posteriad; interstices with microsculptures or reticulations, mostly narrower than diameter of punctures on tergites III–VI.

Male. Sternite VII ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 17 ) with slightly emargination at middle of posterior margin and a shallow impression before it; sternite VIII ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 17 ) with semi-circular emargination at middle of posterior margin;sternite IX ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 17 ) without distinct apicolateral projections, posterior margin serrate. Aedeagus ( Figs. 16, 17 View FIGURES 11 – 17 ) slender, median lobe with apical sclerotized area triangular; expulsion clasps medium in size, median longitudinal bands long, ventral bands each weakly sclerotized, relatively narrow, dorsal bands each broad, longer than ventral band; copulatory tube very long, rod-like, weakly curved right behind the middle; parameres slightly longer than median lobe, expanded at apical fourth, each with 17–18 setae on apical parameral area.

Female. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 11 – 17 ) distinctly prominent at middle of posterior margin; spermatheca ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 11 – 17 ) strongly sclerotized without bends.

Distribution. China (Hainan).

Remarks. The new species is similar to S. cyanogaster Rougemont 1983 , but differs in the following characters: metallic tinge stronger, head with midline reticulated, while it is smooth in S. cyanogaster , elytra narrower with punctation less confluent.

Etymology. This species is named in honor of Mrs. Pan Yu-Hong who collected specimens of the new species.
