One of us ( DAE, April 1988) examined the holotype of D. tachiensis and confirmed that it is a junior synonym of D. licha . This species is very common at fish markets around Taiwan, especially Da-xi, where deep-sea fisheries occur.

Conservation status: Near Threatened.
