Hypogaleus Smith, 1957: 589 . Subgenus of Galeorhinus Blainville, 1816 . Type species: Galeorhinus (Hypogaleus) zanzibariensis Smith, 1957 , by original designation (also monotypy); a junior synonym of H. hyugaensis Miyosi, 1939 .

Remarks: Appears to be rare in Taiwanese waters.

Conservation status: Near Threatened.
